John Forest's CPSC 106 Website

Hello and welcome to my website for DS 106! My name is John Forest and I am a senior history major within the College of Education at the University of Mary Washington. This is actually my last class I am taking before I graduate, so I am looking forward to finishing strong. I am really excited to take this this class, partially because I have signed up for it the past three summers and was always too busy to follow through. Work has held me down in the past, and for better or worse, that is no longer an issue.

As a history major, my focus is on American military history, and most of my independent research has revolved around that. My senior thesis was about Theodore Roosevelt and the Spanish-American War, and how that influenced American politics in the modern era. That might sound boring to some, but I had such an amazing time doing the research and explaining it to others. It is probably easy to guess what I want to do for a career, being in COE, I have signed a contract to be a middle school history teacher next fall. Super excited!

In my free time, I like to hangout with my friends and go hiking, camping, fishing and everything in between. If you live in the northern Virginia region, and want to know some great spots to go spend time outdoors, send me a message and I will give you an information dump about the best places!

Thanks for reading, looking forward to getting to know y’all!
